It's all in the reflexes

How many countries can you name in five minutes? (Hat tip: Miss Hass.) Here's my first try:

96

And my second try:

124

My guess is that I probably can't get much higher than 150. I just can't type fast enough.

And if I had infinite time, I probably could not get much higher than 180 or so, although the widget says there are 270. That's a lot.

But we all know there's only one that matters.

China.

At least China thinks it's all about China...wow, I thought Americans had an inferiority complex!

I was hampered by my apparent inability to spell country names correctly. After further (intense) study, I will be giving it another try.

I was also severly penalized by my inability to spell. I spent at least a minute trying to get the former Burma. I know all those former soviet republics, but I'd be 105 before I can spell any of them. With Africa it's a different story. I learned one set of names, and who knows what they are now called.

Fun, though, huh?

I got 103 in 5 minutes on my first attempt. But of the ones I (and likely others missed), many, maybe even half, of the listed "missed" countries are NOT countries--Baker Island? Pitcairn Island? South Ossetia? Svalbard? Easter Island? Give me a break!--Timo

Yeah, lots of the options are dubious. How many countries does the UN recognize? Like 200 or something?

HOUSE,

I just got 138 with 26 seconds left, and then the web site's clock froze. What an addictive waste of time!--
