The mantle of Elijah

President Gordon B. Hinckley

President Gordon B. Hinckley has died.

When President Hunter died, I was serving a mission in Ogden, Utah. That day my companion and I were doing service working on the grounds of the Ogden temple. One of the grounds crew came over and informed us, and we went over and lowered the flag to half mast.

I wish I had something like that I could do today.

I know how you feel...a blog entry seems so insignificant.

I've got to know from my only polisci friend if Romney really stands a chance still...please tell me he does.

At this point, it looks like McCain is going to be the nominee, but I would say there's maybe a five percent chance that Romney can pull it off. If he does, of course, he'll get killed in the general election. But I'm really impressed with his performance. I thought he would not get this far, or do this well.

On the other hand, I thought that he could win himself a cabinet spot or perhaps even the vice-presidency, but this looks increasingly improbable. McCain loathes him, as you can see in debates. So, even though he's doing better than I thought, I think he's going to be headed back to the private sector until 2012.

I have to say that I really believe he would stand a chance in the general election. I don't think any Republican would vote for Clinton or Obama.
