Wow, the stuff Lennon & McCartney wrote during their heyday. Even the simpler stuff like the ones you posted are great. Any reason why you selected these two?
Aside from "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Live and Let Die," I am hard-pressed to think of another even-close-to decent post-Beatles Paul McCartney song. Most of his stuff is unlistenable. What went wrong? --vienna f. wilson
You're right about Paul, and the same could be said for John. People love "Imagine," but 99% of his post-Beatles work was crap.
I think the band was greater than the sum of its parts. They kept each other from indulging their excesses-- John's laziness and iconoclastic spitefulness, and Paul's mawkish sentimentality. I'm sure it wasn't easy for them to work together, but there's no denying the beauty of the music they made.
And I picked these because they remind me of Rainbow Brite. We broke up.
